AFTER WEEKS of dancing a fast-paced jig with Uranus in trigger-happy Aries, Mercury the Communicator finally enters Taurus on Monday. As an earth sign, Taurus is known for its practicality and slower pace; with Mercury in the sign until June 6, perhaps the rapid-fire (and often off-target) verbal diatribes we've been witnessing will calm somewhat over the next three weeks.

Still, Taurus is a fixed sign and therefore known also for a certain stubbornness, so we'll have to see (and choose for ourselves) which end of the spectrum we will manifest. Our minds may be more able to seek out peaceful and appreciative thoughts during this time, but we could also become more entrenched in our opinions and unwilling to budge from old ways of thinking.

THE SATURN-URANUS TRINE on Thursday will assist in many ways. We can thank this harmonious aspect for helping hold us -- and the fabric of our world -- in relative stability in spite of the discord and even chaos that seems constantly in the news. This is a year-long beneficial influence; the aspect was exact for the first time on December 24, 2016 and will be exact for the last time on November 11 of this year.

By nature, Saturn and Uranus are usually uncomfortable companions, since Saturn likes to follow the rules and Uranus nearly always breaks them. But when these two are in trine aspect, Saturn can help stabilize the unpredictable effects of Uranus and supports the successful implementation of the new directions Uranus proposes. In turn, Uranus can encourage Saturn to be more open to change, and supports the creation of new forms that are more flexible and inclusive.

This is the "hopeful aspect" for 2017; to help it do its important work, we'll want to focus this week on how to turn lemons into lemonade, and to ponder how often the unexpected twists and turns of life often end up leading us to greater fulfillment and meaning.

IN MANY RESPECTS, this appears to be primarily a week of adjustment. Quincunx aspects are noted for this type of effect, and we have three this week -- Sun-Saturn on Tuesday, Jupiter-Neptune on Wednesday, and Mars-Pluto on Friday. Adjustments are needed when we realize that the road we've chosen is not leading us quite where we hoped it would. These quincunx aspects make it clear where that is true.

Adjustments require a softening of attachment to previously-set agendas. They also help us be aware of where our own inner lack of harmony may be at the root of our dissatisfaction. As we realize how we are, in essence, trying to walk with one foot pointed left and the other pointed right, we can stop forward motion at least momentarily while we get our inner bearings. We may even figure out that there's actually a third -- and much better -- option we haven't considered before.

IF YOUR BIRTHDAY IS THIS WEEK: This year provides the incentive to take your show on the road! It begins to feel uncomfortable to stay with the old and familiar -- a part of you hears a voice calling, one that inspires you to take risks and move beyond the parameters of your current life experience. This, of course, means an attitude adjustment may be needed, and a willingness to look at your life through a different lens than before.

As you move out and embrace new experiences, you may be surprised at who you meet, and how a sense of belonging quickly grows between you.

In peace,

Pam
